Skin Cancer Surgery Workshops

SCCANZ Surgical Workshops have been designed by practitioners for practitioners. Our workshops will provide you with the most comprehensive and up to date methods for skin surgery in primary care skin cancer practice.

Currently two workshops are available for practitioners and one for practice nurses :

  •  SCCANZ Surgical Workshop - Essentials
  • 

This workshop covers the fundamentals of cutaneous surgery, biopsy and suturing techniques. Held over two days, it will assist general practitioners to upskill on the skin surgical requirements of day to day general practice.  Attendees will enjoy plenty of hands-on time to practice suturing techniques with the guidance of experienced tutors. To expand your knowledge, registration for the Advanced workshop is strongly recommended.

Lectures are presented by SCCANZ Members and Fellows and guest speakers.  The workshop combines theory and hands on practical sessions (using pig cheeks) to improve and enhance your surgical skills.  Working in small groups you will be tutored by experienced Members and Fellows of SCCANZ who will closely support you throughout your two day comprehensive learning experience.

  •  SCCANZ Surgical Workshop - Advanced

This workshop explores the more advanced aspects of skin cancer surgery including skin grafts, flap surgery and wound repairs in difficult areas. Working in small groups your lectures and tutors include dermatologists,plastic surgeons and SCCANZ Fellows ensuring you are provided with the most up to date techniques and tuition available in Australia.

  • SCCANZ Practice Nurse Workshop

Working in skin cancer medicine requires a specialised set of skills.  This hands on workshop provides an introduction to dermoscopy, non-melanoma skin cancer, melanoma types, suturing techniques, biopsy and skin excisions, wound managment, understanding sunscreens and running a procedure room.  Enjoy hands on practical sessions (using pigs cheeks) and small group tutoring by SCCANZ Fellows and Members.

 

Pathway to Fellowship

Completing the SCCANZ Surgical Workshops is a step on the pathway to completing the Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand's Fellowship.  If you are interested in further information on the Fellowship please refer to the Fellowship webpage or email fellowship@sccanz.com.au
