Research

Introduction

SCCANZ actively advocates improvement in the care of skin cancer patients and optimization of clinical outcomes.  An active research program is the sign of a healthy college and our members have indicated their willingness to participate in research.

The Skin Cancer Audit Research Database (SCARD) developed from the college audit tool is now one of the largest databases in the world of skin cancer lesions removed in primary care. This project will form the backbone of much of the college's research efforts.

SCCANZ Research Committee

To further the college's aim, a Research Committee representative of a range of skills, interests and practices was established at the 2009 Skin Cancer Conference.  The committee meets monthly and submissions and suggestions are welcome at any time.

  1. Identify priority research activities
  2. Assist members with research development, execution and publication
  3. Assist in grant applications
  4. Network institutional researchers with members
  5. Develop research links with other primary care bodies
  6. Develop Human Research Ethics and Evaluation Committee capability
  7. Promote research presentations at scientific and academic meetings
