Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine

OVERVIEW

This is the recommended starting point for GPs wanting to expand their knowledge and skills in primary care skin cancer medicine.

This two day, face-to-face course focuses on core skills and the safe practice of skin cancer medicine and includes hands-on sessions to introduce basic skin surgery and suturing techniques. Undertaking the assessment component of the course is optional. However, successful completion of the assessment is required in order to be awarded a Certificate.

Please note; the Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine provides only a basic introduction to skin flap surgery. The College does not recommend doctors undertake skin flaps or grafts as part of their practice until completing more comprehensive surgical training to ensure they can safely assimilate flaps and grafts into their skin cancer practice.
